Katra railway station to Manokamna Bhawan distance
From Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station, first reach Katra town and Banganga by auto, e-rickshaw or taxi. After that, the walk to the Bhawan is about 12–13 km. In total, plan on roughly 14–16 km from the station to the Bhawan, depending on the route. Manokamna Bhawan is then about 200–720 m from the Shrine Cave.

Banganga to Ardhkuwari is about 6 km on the traditional track, so Banganga to the Bhawan comes to roughly 12–13 km in all.
Banganga to Bhawan distance: two tracks
- Traditional track: via Charan Paduka. It is shorter and has services such as ponies and palanquins, so it is busier.
- Tarakote Marg: a newer, wider and gentler track for walkers. It is about 7 km from Banganga to Ardhkuwari, and ponies are not allowed on it; battery cars run on part of this stretch near Ardhkuwari instead.
Getting support on the way up
If you are travelling with young children or elderly family members, a pony, pithu (child carrier) or palki can cover some or all of the distance, and a battery car covers the Ardhkuwari-to-Bhawan stretch. Always confirm the posted fare with the operator before you start, and keep the official rate card in mind — the Shrine Board has not authorised private agents to sell these tickets.
