From Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station, first reach Katra town and Banganga by auto, e-rickshaw or taxi. After that, the walk to the Bhawan is about 12–13 km. In total, plan on roughly 14–16 km from the station to the Bhawan, depending on the route. Manokamna Bhawan is then about 200–720 m from the Shrine Cave.

Banganga to Bhawan distance: two tracks
- Traditional track: via Charan Paduka. It is shorter and has services such as ponies and palanquins, so it is busier.
- Tarakote Marg: a newer, wider and gentler track for walkers. It is about 7 km from Banganga to Ardhkuwari, and ponies are not allowed on it.
